Cost and Time Efficiency of Reinforced-Concrete Column Construction Using Conventional and Ready-Mix Methods: A Case Study of the Nurul Yaqin Mosque Project in Bumi Pajo Village

This study compares the cost and time efficiency of conventional and ready-mix methods for reinforced-concrete column work in the Nurul Yaqin Mosque project, Bumi Pajo Village. Work volumes, unit prices, project cost estimates, and construction schedules were analyzed using field observations, literature, and project documentation. Conventional concrete had a unit price of IDR 1,238,000/m³, compared with IDR 1,514,506/m³ for ready-mixed concrete. Total costs were IDR 136,562,428 and IDR 141,276,996, respectively. The conventional method required 9 days, whereas ready-mix construction required 7 days. Ready-mix costs were increased by mixer-truck transportation, equipment operation, and restricted uphill access approximately 7 km from the national highway. Batching-plant production, however, shortened the placement duration. The conventional method was therefore more cost-efficient, while ready-mixed concrete was more time-efficient. Method selection should account for project accessibility, schedule requirements, quality control, and budget constraints.
