Makassar is a city with a highly strategic role, particularly in the social and cultural aspects of South Sulawesi Province and the eastern region of Indonesia. The city also possesses a diverse history and distribution of urban and heritage tourism sites. As the largest city in eastern Indonesia, its rapid urban growth has created challenges, including the potential loss of identity or distinctiveness in its urban and heritage tourism areas. Therefore, it is essential to identify the distinctiveness that still exists in several urban and heritage tourism objects in Makassar, such as Fort Rotterdam, the Makassar City Museum, the Mandala Monument, the 99 Domes Mosque, and the Makassar Cathedral Church. This study employs descriptive statistical methods and quantitative data to generate quality data based on the percentage results of 80 respondents. The findings of this research are expected to be useful for relevant authorities in efforts to preserve the city’s identity.
